Welcome
Invitation from Stuart Pitson, the Chair of the Conference
ComBio2012 will be a fully integrated meeting incorporating the Annual Conferences of:
- Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
- Australian Society of Plant Scientists
- Australia and New Zealand Society for Cell and Developmental Biology
- New Zealand Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
- New Zealand Society of Plant Biologists
- AMATA - The Australasian Genomic Technologies Association
and the inaugural meeting of:
This represents a record seven societies participating in a ComBio meeting since its inception in 1999, and we anticipate a record attendance to compliment the diversity of this meeting.
The combined societies meeting will be held in Adelaide at the Adelaide Convention Centre from 23 - 27 September 2012. Downtown Adelaide combines the tranquility of its historic buildings, wide tree-lined streets and quiet-flowing river, with the vitality of a cosmopolitan city offering a wide range of hotels, shops and eating places. The Adelaide Convention Centre is an outstanding state-of-the-art venue, located in the centre of the city within close walking distance to the City Centre, Museum, Art Gallery and Zoological and Botanical Gardens.
The Committee is determined that this conference will be both scientifically rewarding and socially enjoyable. In addition to our popular “mixer” on the Monday evening, registrants are also invited to a “cocktail party” to be held on the Tuesday evening in the exhibition area. The Conference Dinner will be held on the Wednesday evening in the wonderful northern halls of the Adelaide Convention Centre, with pre dinner drinks in the glass fronted foyer, overlooking the River Torrens. The Committee members are keen to encourage all registrants to attend the conference dinner and so have sponsored tickets to keep them to an affordable level. It promises to be a fun night and one not to be missed.
The Organising Committee and I are certain that you will find the meeting both enriching and enjoyable, and look forward to seeing you in Adelaide in September 2012.
