The ASBMB Education SIG mentoring program seeks to involve participants in a professional mentoring relationship built between learners (the mentees) and experienced practitioners (the mentors). THE ASBMB Ed SIG mentoring program is guided by our own CARES framework which conveys the nurturing and protective nature of a mentoring relationship. CARES highlights the importance of trust, genuine interactions, mutual growth, understanding, and encouragement within the mentor-mentee dynamic:
• Confidentiality
• Authenticity & honesty
• Respect & mutual learning
• Empathy for each other’s perspectives
• Supportive relationships & commitment to fostering personal development
