The School of Chemistry and Molecular Bioscience (SCMB) teaches and conducts research in Biomedical Sciences including Biochemistry, Molecular Biophysics, Microbiology and Cell and Molecular Biology, and all disciplines of Chemistry. SCMB staff have global research connections providing multi-faceted opportunities for knowledge growth and development.
We are seeking a highly motivated and successful individual to conduct independent, high-quality research and teaching primarily in the area of Structural Biology, in particular cryo-electron microscopy, as it relates to the fields of Protein Biochemistry, Molecular Biophysics, and/or Cell and Molecular Biology. Opportunities exist for considerable synergy with institutional initiatives including antibiotic resistance, chromosome biology, neuroscience, and cancer research.
The successful candidate will have will have completed a PhD with Postdoctoral (or equivalent) experience and expertise in Structural Biology, and in particular single-particle cryo-electron microscopy, or cryo-tomography, as it relates to the fields of Protein Biochemistry, Molecular Biophysics, and/or Cell and Molecular Biology. Your ability and willingness to supervise Honours, Masters and/or PhD candidates, pursue an active research program with external funding, and contribute to School and Faculty governance and administration is essential.
In addition, your aptitude to develop a vibrant research program that capitalises on the world-class infrastructure at the University of Wollongong, which includes the cryo-electron microscopy facility and single-molecule fluorescence microscopy will be highly regarded.
The successful candidate will be appointed at Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) commensurate with qualifications and experience.
